Tim Hearden joins Western Farm Press staff as senior staff writer

Tim Hearden, Redding, Calif., has joined Western Farm Press as senior staff writer, effective March 12.

Hearden brings three decades of journalism experience to the Farm Press staff, including the last 10 as an agricultural field reporter for Capital Press. He has also written for Western Farm Press as a special contributor.

“We are pleased to have Tim join the staff of Western Farm Press,” says Ron Smith, Senior Content Director for Farm Press/Farm Progress. “Tim’s knowledge of the widely diverse agriculture of California and Arizona is well suited to our mission to provide timely, reliable information for our print and online readers.

“Tim and staff writer Todd Fitchette will make a good team to cover this important geography for the Farm Press/Farm Progress group,” Smith adds.

“I’ve developed great relationships with the growers, farm advisors and others in California’s agriculture-related industries over the past few years, and I’m glad to be able to continue to work with them,” Hearden says. “I’m honored that Western Farm Press has given me this position, and I look forward to being part of the Farm Press/Farm Progress family.”

Hearden earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from San Diego State University. His journalism experience includes stints reporting on government affairs and as a sports reporter.

Tim and his wife Sara live in Redding, Calif.
